There is no single best file type. The best source is usually the most current, coordinated file that the visualization studio can use reliably without destroying useful project structure.

A Revit model may provide strong geometry, levels, categories, and building information. A SketchUp model may communicate design intent quickly and be easy to inspect. A DWG set may be the clearest source when the project is documented mainly in 2D.

A visualization handoff does not always need the entire federated BIM environment.

If you are exporting rather than sending the native RVT, agree the format first.

Purge can reduce unused content, but do not use it blindly on the live design model just to help rendering.
